Your task is to write nother version of Romeo and Juliet’s balcony scene (Act 2 Scene 2). You will be writing this as a play which includes setting description, stage directions, costuming, etc. Your goal is to “modernize” or change the scene,  costumes, setting, and language.

You must first determine the conflict your modernization will reflect, just as the conflict between Romeo and Juliet stemmed from their families’ hatred of one another.

 (Please do not make this a racial or political battle – more that some specific event has happened between the families that has caused a rift !)

 Then you are to determine the time period and style the language and costumes/setting will take. Start with a brief description of the setting, time period, and tone. Your dialog should reflect the conditions you have constructed. This does not need to be very long but the general ideas of the balcony scene should be conveyed.
