Duke Hospital Raleigh/Durham North Carolina.

Mental Health Social Trends- Duke hospital prides itself on being one of the best hospitals in the United States. However, these 957 inpatient beds have little to no mentioning regarding mental health.  The location of both hospitals in Raleigh and Durham are located in communities where mental health failures are on the rise. Although the other areas that it honors itself such as 51 operating rooms and an endo-surgery center, cardiology center all of that is very great. However, on any given day if you just peer out the window, you will see the drastic need of mental health intervention.

If Duke opened up and mental health living facility, I think they could possibly be onto something. If they were able to house those persons that right outside of their window and make sure they are taking their medications, give them a place to live of course under certain circumstances. I believe this would be cutting edge for any institution.

In the U.S. News and World Report Duke Hospital was ranked 11th in adult specialties. They are cancer, cardiology & heart surgery, ear, nose & throat, gastroenterology & GI surgery, geriatrics, gynecology, neurology & neurosurgery, ophthalmology, orthopedics, pulmonology & lung surgery, and urology. Duke University Hospital is also ranked first in North Carolina and first in the Raleigh-Durham area.(sited from https://www.dukehealth.org/hospitals/duke-university-hospital/about Links to an external site.) not one mention of mental health. How can that be when if you knew where they were located it is obvious you decided to turn a blind eye.
