In India, air pollution has long been a significant problem, and recently, it has only gotten worse. The environment in India as well as the health and happiness of its people have been significantly impacted by the rise in air pollution. I will discuss how the increase in air pollution in India personally affected me in this essay and how it led to a realisation.
During a trip to Delhi, I recall being the first person to really notice the increase in air pollution in India. I was immediately overcome by the overpowering smell of pollution as soon as I stepped off the plane and took my first breath of fresh air. I was all too familiar with the smell, but I had never experienced one as potent as it was in Delhi.
I couldn’t help but notice the heavy, smoggy air that seemed to hang over everything as I walked through the city. My eyes were constantly stinging and watering, and I could hardly see more than a few feet in front of me.
The pollution was so strong and obvious. For me, the pollution smelled like cigarette smoke. But the pollution had an impact on more than just my eyes and nose. In addition, my throat was constantly itchy and painful, and I occasionally had trouble breathing.
It was a genuinely unsettling encounter that made me appreciate how severe India’s air pollution had gotten. I couldn’t believe I was a citizen of a nation where the air was so polluted that breathing it actually had a negative impact on my health.
For me, the pollution smelled like cigarette smoke.
India’s rising air pollution is a significant problem that demands attention. It has an impact on the environment in addition to the health and happiness of its residents. My own encounter with the worsening air pollution in India served as a wake-up call for me and made me understand the critical need for immediate action to address this issue. For the sake of present and future generations, we must all collaborate to identify solutions and implement action plans to reduce air pollution in India.
