I personally do think Kelly Ripa’s treatment is a bigger problem in society today. Firstly, they should have told her about his new position and about his announcement way before a hour before the world finds out. Secondly, calling her a “diva” and saying she was having a “metal break down” because she was reacting to not being told about her partner leaving is crazy. Why are women being called diva’s because of them reacting to something very valid? she was left in the dark and she wasn’t mad that he was leaving. She was mad because no one told her which made her look bad.
I have never really experienced sexism in a workplace. I worked at Steelcase Industries this year for a while and there are many hard “man” jobs in that factory. They were very surprised that I caught on very fast and was good at the zone I was in. I was exceptional at that zone so I got moved from a zone with mostly females to all males. The Zone leader told me “It will probably take you a while to catch on” but I asked the other people in this zone if took them a while and they all said no. I was confused why he said that to me but then I knew it was because I was a female and I was African American. The only African American in this zone and also the only female. It took me two days to learn the zone and I was moved to the sewing section. I was confused why but now I know why. This made me kind of upset because I liked working in that Zone and I was getting good at it. I reacted by talking bad about the zone leader to everyone in the whole factory. That is the only time I have ever been looked at as a female.
