Janna usually smokes a pack of cigarettes every other day, but lately, Janna is smoking more than a pack a day. She recently lost a big case and feels frustrated with her work and does not think she was meant to be an attorney.
Over the last month or so, after having some pretty severe symptoms from COVID, Janna has been extremely tired and has found it very hard to concentrate on her work as a lawyer. She has been told that she seems withdrawn and irritated. The co-workers noticed because Janna is usually very friendly and eager to help out.
Janna’s husband also notices how much Janna has changed in the last month or so. She has shown no interest in sex and she has difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep. He indicates that Janna has always been able to handle the stressors of her job and life, but recently, she is extremely tired, sad, and unable to talk about what is bothering her. He has heard her cry on the phone with her best friend. That has happened only one time.
Janna admits to wishing she were dead. Although she has not admitted to thoughts of suicide, Janna is unable to get rid of the feelings of constant sadness and overwhelm she has felt in the last month or so.
