Activity 20: Making Choices as You Write – Composing Your Draft

With your audience and purpose in mind but focusing mainly on getting your ideas on paper, begin writing the first draft of your paper on Brave New World.

As you pause midway in your writing, think about what you have done so far and where you are going.

If you made a scratch outline before you started writing, you might find that your plan is working, but it is also possible that the writing is taking you in a different direction. You may find that as you write about them, the arguments connect in a different way than you imagined or that you have thought of entirely new arguments while you are writing. As you make adjustments to your organizational structure, keep the audience in mind. Will your reader be able to follow along with your reasoning?

Create a writing plan and list the changes you want to make so far.
