“There are many factors that go along with quality of care, but it is most commonly defined as, “the degree to which health services for individuals and populations increase the likelihood of desired health outcomes and are consistent with current professional knowledge” (Harris-Wehling, 1990). In order to deliver better quality of care it is important that as a practice we implement these qualities to measure the care we are giving. To build stronger relationships with our patients we need to increase the engagement we have with them. Using effective communication skills will show patients that physicians and other employees within the practice are putting their care first. Another quality we should promote is the affordability of our care. In order for patients to consider our practice for the services we offer we need to make sure we are working with insurance companies, so the patients benefit from their insurance plans. We also need to advertise the types of services we offer and make sure that we are providing for our patients, with the correct treatment and prevention plans.
To measure the quality of care we will implement the use of anonymous surveys, this way patients can be honest about their experience at our practice. With the information we gather from the surveys, we can improve our care skills. As a practice we should also be using PQI, practice quality improvement, this will show how fast turn around times are for test results are, appointment availability, improving handoff care, and making sure that patients are safe when in our facility. “
