Examine at least three current and future economic issues confronting today’s health care system.
There are many issues that contribute to the economic issues we see in today’s health care system. Mainly the continued rising cost of health care, this will always be an issue. As new treatments are becoming avaliable and the training for those treatments all cost more and more each day. To provide the best treatement for new illnesses that continue to arise there is extensive research that is done to treat those. This cost money which is then causes an increase in the patients treatment. Then you have the cost of medications continuing to rise, this kinda plays in that same role with the healthcare cost, however the many many hours of research and testing for those medications takes time and money. Lastly we have the medical insurance, many people do not have medical insurance as they cannot afford it, and it is continuly rising as well. I don’t see any of these issues slowing own anytime soon, however there could be less cost if the researchers look at other venues for their testing of such.
Analyze the significant implications of the issues in question for market efficiency of the health care system.
By improving the efficiency it decreases the useless products and time costing the facility an increased loss. Having more efficient staff and utilizing existing products will increase the eddiciency of the health care system.
Being able to provide the appropriate staff, meaning the physician specialized in a certain area is somewhat of a struggle, and as I stated prior the lack of nursing now is quite scarce. Then you have just the overall incfreased cost of healthcare all around. Many of those patients that needs treatment is not seeking treatment becuase either they don’t have medical insurance, because they can’t afford it, or they just can’t afford it alone. This will continue to be an issue if we cannot get a handle on this in the coming years. There is so much that is changing in the health care industry and it is only going to be more costly. We must make changes now to allow this to not affect our seniors in the coming years.
