As you prepare to respond to the discussion question(s) and peers, be sure to read through the assigned readings in advance of participating in the discussion. The topic questions are designed for you to reflect upon your practice role as a professional and how you address the IOM competencies. Your responses can include your personal experiences, what new learning emerged from the discussions, how you embrace values or question ethical situations, and/or theoretical and empirical literature to support your comments. You may also provide constructive comments and include questions to clarify a point or advance the dialogue with peers.

DQ2 Capstone Project: Issues and Stakeholders
Reflecting upon your project, begin to research the literature and explore the current articles that describe background information about your topic. Don’t forget to refer back to the Library Course Page (Links to an external site.) for help. Identify a few problems or issues relevant to your topic, what groups are directly or indirectly impacted by these issues, and the nurse’s role and responsibility related to the topic. Remember, in Modules 3 through 4 we will continue to refine your project as a work in progress before you present your completed power-point presentation of your project to your professor and classmates (Module 5 week 10) and to your selected group (Modules 6-8 or weeks 11-14).
Faculty and peers will provide informal feedback to your project as a work in progress. Please submit an attachment of your project in the discussion area for additional feedback.
As you begin to draft your project, for this discussion:
State your project title and describe 2-3 issues or problems related to your topic. Cite a minimum of two sources to support this discussion.
Identify any two groups or stakeholders directly or indirectly impacted by this topic and issues.
Review your peers’ topics and discussion, and provide comments and/or suggestions to further develop this section of the project.
Deliberate how this was useful to your understanding of why best evidence projects are essential to nursing practice in your response to peers.

You may begin to draft slides of your project presentation as you complete different sections of the capstone project as a paper assignment. For example, begin with the Title of the Project and the Description of the Issue or Problem for the paper and create one or two slides that highlight the criteria for that section of the paper (problem, stakeholders, nurse’s role and responsibility).
Continue to make arrangements to present your project as a poster/slide presentation to a professional group or community participants prior to week 10 of this course. Identify potential date, time and participant group, organization, or community setting where or with whom the Capstone Project will be presented.
Reminder: a refined presentation of your project slides to your peers and professor is required in Module 5 prior to presenting your Capstone Project to a selected group.
