The Capstone Project addresses the following End of Program Student Learning Outcomes (EPSLOs):
EPSLO #1: Promote holistic patient-centered care and population health supporting values, culture, right to self-fulfillment, and quality care outcomes.
EPSLO #2: Integrate evidence, nursing theory, and knowledge from other disciplines to guide nursing practice.
EPSLO #4: Incorporates nursing’s professional core values, standards of practice, guidelines, commitment to excellence, and lifelong learning as a basis for professional nursing practice.
EPSLO #6: Engage in the spirit of inquiry to propose solutions that support nursing excellence.
Capstone Project: Evidence-based Initiative Power-point Presentation (20%)
Adapt your Capstone Project into a set of power-point slides to present as a poster/slide presentation to your selected group of participants. The audience for your presentation may include a professional group of nurse leaders and educators, nursing staff, healthcare leaders and professionals, veterans group, neighborhood refugee center, or other interested participants.
Follow the directions and criteria below as you prepare your power-point using 8-10 slides for this assignment. If doing a poster presentation, a trifold poster board would be appropriate for this type of poster presentation. Be sure to include Title, College Name, and Student Name centered and placed across the top of the poster board or on the first page of your slide presentation.
Each Capstone Presentation must address all of the following criteria adapted from the Capstone Paper:
Background of the Problem: Highlight 3-4 issues related to topic (use key words or major headings; cite sources on bottom of slide that support issues; approximately 1- 2 slides)
Patient centered care and population health: Explain how the initiative supports the values, culture, right to self-fulfillment, and quality care outcomes for the stakeholders.
Description of Proposed Initiative: Describe the initiative with proposed benefits/significance for doing this initiative; identify those groups/populations that would directly or indirectly benefit from this project (approximately 2-3 slides).
Evidence-based Literature: Highlight major evidence/research findings from any 6-8 scholarly articles related to initiative (include author, year as citation below the content on related slide; (approximately 2 slides)
Implications for Nursing: Highlight 4 reasons why this project advances healthcare and the profession of nursing under any two headings: practice, education, leadership/management (approximately 1-2 slides)
Conclusion: Summarize key elements of the project presentation in one paragraph (1/2 slide)
References (list sources in APA format (1 slide).
REMINDER: The presentation of your project to your audience must be completed by Week 13.
Capstone Presentation: Evaluation
Submit the summary of your completed Participant Survey you modified to reflect your project. This summary is due upon completion of the assignment and no later than Week 13.
Submit the Capstone Presentation: Self Evaluation to your professor upon completion of the assignment and no later than Week 13.
Submit your power-point slides, self evaluation, and summary of the participant’s evaluation no late than Week 13.

Late Assignment Policy: All assignments (e.g. papers, projects, etc.) are expected to be submitted on time. If unplanned or extenuating* circumstances prevent on time submission, then students should follow these guidelines:
Contact your instructor with details about the extenuating circumstances if you are requesting permission to submit late.
If a student submits an assignment late without permission, it will not be graded until the student communicates with the instructor. If there is no communication with the instructor before the assignment grade is due, a grade of zero will be assigned.
The first late submission in the course will be accepted and graded without penalty up to 5 days after the due date. After 5 days of no submission, the instructor may assess a late penalty of 5 percent per day.
All subsequent late assignments may be assessed a late penalty of 5 percent per day, starting on day one. There will be no 5-day grace period.
This policy does not pertain to discussion posts. Please review the course specific discussion rubric for further guidance.
Please note that course structure may result in exceptions to the late policy. In this case, the instructor will either clarify or arrange guidelines for submission of assignments with the student(s).
No work will be accepted after the final day of the term unless an official course extension has been granted. Excelsior College Extension Policy
