The child’s subordination index.

Listen to an audio sample of a child speaking as you read through the language transcript that is provided for you. Identify and tally the number of clauses in each utterance. Note whether each clause is main or subordinate (e.g., [SI-1], [SI-2], etc.). Calculate the child’s subordination index.

AUDIO TRANSCRIPTION:

I was riding my bike.

And then my friend he was coming in from the street.

So then he said “heads up”.

And I thought he was about to turn that way.

So then I went ahead and turned. 

And then he kept on

Then he went and tried to go faster.

And then my tire went into him.

And then I flew over his bike.

And then I landed wrong on my wrist.

And then I had to have a cast and a slinky 

how you ever call it.

A sling!

I had to have that for a month or two.
