Recreation Therapist interviewing a person with a disability or illness

You are a Recreation Therapist interviewing a person with a disability or illness and will be creating an appropriate intervention for them based on what you know of their needs and interests.

During your interview with the client, you will obtain the following demographic information:

Name

Age

Ethnicity, Cultural Background

Occupation (current or previous)

Disability or Illnesses

Symptoms or experiences the person encounters

Circle of Support (Formal/Informal)

i.e. Family, friends, marital status, community, support groups

You will also use two assessments to understand the client’s needs and interests using the following assessment tools:

Leisure Interest Measure

Leisure Motivation Scale

You will only use the above assessment tools for the purpose of learning about the client’s leisure history.
