Background on class

This class serves as a capstone course where students work on a major media production as the focus of their senior work.  The seminar showcases the student’s ability to work with both a major media channel and collateral media that show an understanding of media convergence. Students will work during the semester to develop and brand a product and create a media campaign that promotes that product. The Communication senior seminar should engage a senior in demonstrating competence with all of the forms of communication as they relate to the major project. In essence, show us the movie, AND the movie’s poster, the press release, the brochure, the promotional commercials for radio and television that accompany the media project. Or, show us the art prints and the brochure, press releases, catalog that accompany the museum opening… or show us the newsreel of radio news stories and newspaper version, the website, and the social media.
