Organizing and directing. When organizing, the financial manager decides how to use the resources of the organization to most effectively carry out the plans that have been established. When directing, the manager works on a day-to-day basis to keep the results of the organizing running efficiently. The purpose is to ensure effective resource use and provide daily supervision. (Baker, J. J., Baker, R. W., Dworkin, N. R., 2017). I currently work for a large hospital system and this would be a great strategy when deciding how to use resources each year for certain departments or in the main hospital itself. Many departments within the hospital need to run efficiently each day and many times require upgrades for treating patients. Such as EHR’s, diagnostic equipment, labs, emergency departments, and other specialty treatment centers within the hospital. I would look at the needs of the hospital system as a whole and decide what would make the most sense and benefit our patients and also bring in the most revenue to put back in to the staff, equipment, buildings, hospital settings and clinics. Financing the problems that need immediate attention would be first and then each year I would go down the list of things that would benefit quality of patient care. Health care is a competitive market and it is important to stay ahead of other facilities to attract more patients and bring in more revenue.
