I currently reside in the state of Georgia, one of the major laws in georgia that I found to be interesting in business in general but also correlates to my field of practice in health care administration is the autonomy to choose not to award an employee with a lunch break. This rule is strictly up to the employer and is not a requirement in Georgia despite the amount of hours and employee works. However, most employer in Georgia would still outline a break 98% of the time. I discovered this after working for an urgent care practice as a practice manager and many of my workers were not able to take their alloted 30 min lunch break due to the rise during the pandemic. They would frequently eat on the go, and I felt like it was horribly inhumane and I wanted to shut my office down for 30 mins a day for lunch and the company refused. Which prompted me to look into the Georgia labor law.
