Dr. Audet: I saw a really interesting recent series of focus groups that were conducted with people who in very poor urban neighborhoods. Groups of people who had disabilities, who were blind or otherwise disabled. And their concerns were that many of the applications tha are developed, would really not be at all usable for them. If you’re a mother and you have th different jobs, thinking of going to your cell phone to monitor how many miles you’ve walke during the day is potentially not something that’s really realistic. And that’s where I think it’s really crucial that the innovators that are developing these new tools, really listen to those t they’re targeting with these new tools. Sandy Hausman: At Tupel Health, consultant Bassit Chaudhry adds that new Information Technology should ideally save time, a precious commodity in todays’ medical setting. Dr. Chaudhry: There’s so much to do and patients are so sick and you know you’re constantly working without enough time. The time pressure now in Healthcare across the board, in- patient/out-patient just makes doing this work so unbelievably difficult.
