One of my goals in this class is to create a strong research background in each of you so you can confidently read science that is published and understand it.  Imagine if you knew EVERYTHING there was to know about an issue. You would be the expert. You could teach people about your topic. 

Think about some of the problems that you wonder about.  Things that you wish were different.  Maybe you are passionate about political issues like the electoral college, the presidency, or immigration.  Perhaps you have an interest in the medical field, or new technologies that are being developed.  Maybe you are a victim of abuse or discrimination and would like to discuss that.  Are you a fan of movies?  Sports? Are you a parent trying to figure out how to potty train your toddler? Discipline your teenager?  Are there issues in school or the education system, like standardized testing, that you would like to become the expert on?  What are some issues that are going on today that interest you? (If you are stuck, you can google “research paper topic ideas” on Google and read until you find a topic that you are interested in.)   You can pick almost anything here as long as it is interesting to you.  (You CAN’T write about abortion, legalizing marijuana, capital punishment, euthanasia, or gun control.)

 Tell us about one or two possible research ideas. (I will give you some feedback about which one I think would be good for a paper topic.)

 Explain what that topic means to you or how you are connected to it.
