How would I use an ethos appeal to the below argument to ensure my audience trusts me?
Harm reduction is what it is. It reduces harm that is related to drug use by intervention of public health connection and resources. However, this is not the first step in solving this problem. The first step is giving recognition that drug use in the Town of Christiansburg is a real problem and the people affected by it are worthy of their dignity and have the right to safety. Harm reduction does not see drug use as a moral failing.
I believe that key stakeholders in this are going to be addicts themselves, their families, and the community including town council, local peer recovery specialist, local MAT Doctors, and nurses. Harm reduction would be beneficial to addicts by providing a safe space to use drugs and learn about resources that could help them on the path to recovery and overcome their disease of addiction. Families would benefit from harm reduction by having a support system set in place for their loved ones who are struggling with addiction. The community would benefit from harm reduction by potently having fewer drug addicts and a lower risk of disease spreading throughout the community.
