Each of the case studies that we will be using during this course are meant to give you a better understanding of global public health issues and how those issues can be/were addressed. You should use the information from assigned readings and class lecture content slides to help you analyze and comprehend the case study, and help you determine how you would respond to the global public health issue. After reading the assigned case study posted with this assignment on Blackboard, you should prepare a document that answers the following questions:

What was the problem that the Gates Foundation initiative was intended to address?

Why was this a significant concern in need of attention?

How is this an example of a global health partnership? Who are the partners involved?

What actions are being taken in this case by the Gates Foundation?

Were these actions appropriate in your opinion? Why or why not?

What challenges to a successful partnership do you think may be encountered between the following partners?

The Gates Foundation and the partner(s) it funds to create the innovation

The Gates Foundation and the communities where it implements the new innovation

Do you think that the partnerships for this initiative will be successful? Why or why not?

According to what was reported in the “Strategy Overview”, are these programs cost-effective?

How can the lessons learned from this case study be used to improve other global public health partnerships?

Your case study response paper should start with a brief introduction or summary of the case study. You will then answer each of the questions listed above. End the case study with a concluding paragraph. Should be 2-3 paragraphs in length.
