W3D: Discussion AV This week we examined a large variety of educational theorists and their theories. In your discussion post this week, you will connect one or more of the theories to a real-world experience in ECE. Here, you might consider your own learning as a child, a lesson you have seen conducted in an ECE setting where you work or volunteer, or something you have observed in your child’s activities in an ECE setting. For example, you may recall one of your primary school teachers using scaffolding or you may have seen your child’s daycare teacher using Gardner’s multiple intelligences to construct a lesson plan. Pick one of your personal experiences to write about. For the experience you select, please do the following in your initial post: . Describe the experience. . What happened? What was the topic or focus of the lesson/activity? What approximate age group was the lesson/activity designed for? . Explain how the experience you have selected demonstrates one or more of the theories from lecture. . Detail whether you believe the lesson/activity was effective. Analyze whether children learned what was intended from this lesson/activity and justify your reasoning. . So, for example, if you are writing about your childhood experience with scaffolding, did it help you to learn the material? Why or why not?
