Students of American history often think of the Civil Rights movement as a purely “American experience” that helped to usher in the end of racist Jim Crow policies, segregated schools, and the building of a more egalitarian society. Yet, as the documents in Chapter 12 illuminate, civil rights activists often found inspiration and support from other movements for justice throughout the world. For this forum:
