The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology Strategic Plan Framework This Plan indudes four overarching goals, each of which includes specific objectives. Taken together, these should not be viewed as sequential, but as interdependent with a collective purpose of improving the health of individuals, families, and communities. Read Strategic plan attached! Pick one Goal from pages 6-20 and review the objectives and strategies.  Based upon  your knowledge of HIM( use knowledge and skills from previous course work).  

1. What would be some ideas to implement those goals and strategies for your chosen goal. 

2. How will HIM play a role and what other departments/people might need to be involved to help implement the goal.

For example: if you look at Goal 4/objective 4d.  HIM is very involved in promoting secure health information that protects patient privacy.  It is our job to know and implement HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules and to be sure that clinicians and staff are aware of these guidelines.  Additionally, it is also our job to educate patients on their rights of their personal health information so they can make informed decisions.
