The three people you should interview are one person under the age of 18, one person 18-60, and one person over the age of 65. You do not have to give names or identifying information, but you should give a short description of each person’s age, occupation, and relationship to you. There is a list of suggested questions below. You do not have to use all of these and you may substitute your own questions as well. However, you should try to ask the same questions of all your interviewees so that your comparison/contrast will be accurate. Also, ask questions that are more open ended, not closed ended. For example, if you ask “Which social media sites do you use?” get one or two word simple answers. A better open-ended question might be “What is your favorite social media site and how do you use it?” Finally, ask at least one question about how the pandemic has affected technology use. How has the internet or devices like cell phones affected your family life? Do you watch movies online (through your smart tv or on your computer, tablet or phone)? Does your household have a landline? Do you get your news online? If so, is it on social media or on a news website? How reliable do you think news is that you get online? Have you ever “ghosted” someone online because of a post they liked or wrote? What is the “craziest” thing you have ever seen online? Would you ride in a driverless car? Would you allow a robot to care for your elderly parents or a child? Overall, do you think that computers and the internet are good or bad for our culture?
