Writing Prompt: Go to the Carleton Library, and find the Canadian Journal of Sociology. Search the journal for a research article you find interesting The article can not be older than 2012 Answer the following questions . What is the APA Citation for the article you located.  Is this a qualitative or quantitative article? What kind of data (evidence) did they collect? Paraphrase, using your unique own words, what is one conclusion that the authors came to? Tips for writing up a strong response: This question is asking you to locate a concrete example of a research article. You want to make sure you demonstrate an engagement with the course readings. You can achive by: Defining the concepts you are asked to demonstrate (e.g. data, quantitative or qualitative) Explaining how the example you chose fits this definition (For example, did they use a quantitative research method? what kind?) Pretend that you are explaining this concept to someone who is not in this class, like a friend or family member (don’t assume we ‘know what you mean’) You must include a reference to the article (that is how we demonstrate academic integrity, so others can review the source you are using). No direct quotes are permitted (recall: paraphrasing). Suggested Length 1 paragraph (about 75 to 150 words) If your concrete example has a reference (like a news article/website or is from the readings) either include a link or tell us where you found the example; this is how we perform academic integrity and gratitude.
