She has no family and her parents died in a tragic car crash when she was 17. She ended up in this rural town because she lived with her Uncle after her parents passed briefly but then he died about a year later. She has very limited social interactions. She really has no close friends and the people she interacts with at work are either unhealthy relationships or superficial relationships. Her pattern of behavior is that when her loneliness get bad enough she goes to the bar that is below her apartment. She generally drinks enough to allow her to be more social. Once she is intoxicated she feels as if she belongs and will do just about anything with anyone she meets at that bar. She is very promiscuous and has never had a serious intimate relationship. This pattern of behavior became more regular about two months ago when she met Jack. The first night she met Jack she snorted cocaine and had sex with Jack. She thought she was in love and continued to do cocaine, get drunk, and have sex with Jack. She is now pregnant and addicted to cocaine. She told Jack that she is pregnant and has not seen him since. This is currently contributing to a lot of sad, lonely, and negative feelings. She has come into your office because she wants to quit for the safety of the baby. She has had minimal involvement with treatment services in the past. She saw a counselor briefly after her parent’s died. She has not been in treatment for alcohol and drugs and has not had any previous problems related to her alcohol and drug use.
