Detail some of your earliest memories of discovering there are people who are different from you or your family. Explain what happened and how you reacted emotionally. Share some social experiences (such as school, church, or other social events or locations) that helped you during this time of social identity discovery. Keep in mind: This class focuses on the importance of supporting diversity, anti-bias strategies, and connections between early childhood educators, families, and the community at large. As such we will explore a variety of different cultures and family structures. Though there will be differences amongst those in the class, it is important to express these differences professionally and respectfully. This is a valuable skill for the workplace!
