Get it written →Explain how the program will be implemented A way to make the hydraulic shop paperless would-be replacing part control logs with an online forum. Parts are already being tracked by a system called IMDS, which track what stage of overhauling the component is at or what other shops the components are currently being inspected at. In addition to this online system, parts are tracked locally within the shop through a paper called ‘parts control logs’ which track what has happened to the component within the shop and who has done certain tasks of the overhaul. The new program which will be implemented will be an online system of tracking to eliminate the use of parts control logs. The system would track all the same steps as the parts control logs without having to rely on a certain ‘paper trail’-literally. The best execution of this would be an excel workbook, with bin labels. The inputs would contain everything the parts control log does, status, sign off slots (names of who has done what), tracking numbers, and what shop or shops the part needs to go to. What resources will be needed The resources that will be needed are simply participation from personnel within the shop and access/simple understanding of excel. Any conflicts that may come up A conflict that may arise is people not updating the excel workbook. It happens a lot that people do not take time (document what has been done to the component), or do not document where the component currently is (getting worked on by other shops). Explain how you will get “buy-in” from the employees to address any anxiety they may be having. I think the best way to get a “buy-in” is to have everyone use the program on their own. Through using the program, they will be able to detail what is working or what is viewed as difficult. The biggest struggle will be people accepting that things are progressing and changing. Looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with!
