Annotated Bibliography: The Problem of Shoplifting in Arab Retail Stores

Each day around the globe, shoplifters steal commodities worth millions of dollars. What inspires this article is the problem of shoplifting in Arab stores. Indeed, this means that retailers are often at a loss instead of enjoying profit margins in the various ventures interrupted by shoplifters’ activities. Shoplifting falls under the category of organized retail crime. Currently, shoplifters have increasingly resorted to violence, putting salespeople and their clients at constant risk of getting hurt. Mostly, shoplifters use intimidation and application of violence to get their way. The paper will expound on shoplifting activities, their impact on Arab stores and other retail organizations, and how security organizations and businesses can combat the vice. An annotated Bibliography over the same will aid us in better understanding the topic.

The major threat is that shoplifters will never stop at anything, even when it entails the application of violence. As stated earlier, the long-term impacts it leaves on the thousands of retails they impact include the risk of running marginal losses in terms of revenue. Consequently, the stores need to sell thousands of merchandise to cover the cost of the stolen good. As a result, the paper will also address the issues related to shoplifting, such as stress, financial strain, the loss or damage of Arab retail products, that have left Arab store retailer in distress and has since had thoughts of moving the location of business operations.
