Clinicians and researchers explore concepts to flesh out the relationships between ideas within the theory, and to explicate the relationships being examined.In this assignment, we ask that you examine a concept that you are interested in further study. Some examples include generosity, altruism, care, love, loss, racism, marginalization, health, illness, or others.
I. Concept and Purpose (15%)
Select a concept that has meaning for you. Explain why this concept is meaningful to you and what you hope to accomplish by doing this concept analysis.
II. Sources and Evidence (30%)
Explore various definitions and usages of the concept, using multiple sources. These definitions may include dictionary and theoretical definitions, visual images, popular and classical literature, music and poetry, and interviews with various people. The search should include nursing and non?nursing profession`nal literature. (Wikipedia is not an acceptable source). Please make sure that at least two of your references are from JSTOR and the assigned readings are used to support your ideas.
III. Cases (30%)
Construct or select two case stories (no more than 1 or 2 paragraphs) that reflects:
1. the concept you identified
2. a contrary case story for the concept that you identified.
The case stories can be developed from a personal, professional, or even from the literature that reflects a scenario where a concept you are interested in emerges. E.g.You can create a case story, use one from a particular episode of Call the Midwife, or from you own practice, or from a reading).
3. For each case story discuss how the story represents or does not represent the concept.
IV. Related Concepts (10%): Identify other concepts and indicate the nature of the relationship in a linear time frame. At minimum, identify an antecedent and a consequent concept. This section may be in the form of a diagram, but should clearly identify the relationships.
V. Scholarship (5%): The paper is to be presented in an organized and scholarly fashion, following APA (6th edition) style and format. Must not exceed 6 pages (excluding references or title page. No abstract is needed).
VI. Presentation of Concept Analysis in Class (10%)
Presentation due at the Zoom Class on September 30, 2020 (PLV) or October 1, 2020 (NYC). Paper to be posted first on Turnitfirst, then on the blackboard discussion board no later than midnight following the presentation.
