Task 1.2: Child observations and data collection This task will need to be completed prior to the week required for the implementation of your program. You should allow three to five days in your work placement calendar for planning the program (Part 1) and another five days for the implementation of your program (Part 2). The number of children in the focus group: To complete this task you must negotiate with your supervisor which children will be allocated to your focus curriculum planning group. For each child chosen, you must seek parental permission using the observation permission form provided in your Work Placement Project Book. a. You must collect data on each child in your focus group for curriculum planning in line with service practices. This will include observations on each child using a variety of methods (e.g. anecdotal records, learning stories, work samples, language transcripts, jottings etc.). You will self-source the observation templates or use the service formats. Remember whatever formats you use you must include all the criteria.
