The Problematic Politics of Style and Gender Identity in the Workplace

Read Doreen Pierre’s article, “The Problematic Politics of Style and Gender Identity in the Workplace” OR watch Guy Winch’s lecture, “Why We All Need to Practice Emotional First Aid”. Write two paragraphs about ONE of these texts.

Paragraph 1: The writer tells personal stories and presents the personal experiences of others in order to prove points.  believe these stories offer compelling evidence? Why or why not? Discuss one specific personal experience story in the article. What is the point that the writer is attempting to prove with this particular story? , believe the story successfully proves the writer’s point? Why or why not? Does the story prove the point with some limitations?

Paragraph 2: Tell us about your experience regarding the writer’s topic. Select a point that the writer makes and use one of your own personal experiences to prove or disprove the writer’s point.

Guidelines:

Edit for typos, spelling, grammar, and sentence structure.

Avoid vague language according to the principles in the Avoiding Vague Language PowerPoint. Use proper nouns when possible. Do not use vague words like THING.

Write focused paragraphs. Make sure that one sentence leads logically to another. Begin each paragraph with a topic sentence. You can use some of the strategies indicated in the Focused Body Paragraphs PowerPoint.
