Interpersonal Communication
WATCH: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYTrIcn4rjg
(My first interpretation after watching this video: Knowing what you know about interpersonal communication already going into this class, what stands out to you about the content of this video? Don’t just tell us plot (what is happening), but instead try to interpret the behavior of these birds.
The communication between the birds did not initially reflect that they were agreeing with the situation they were in. They all did seem to agree that bumping into one another was not acceptable behavior. When one reacted physically to being bumped into, the next seemed to acquire that same thought to react the same once they were bumped into as well. If we see that something is not accepted by others we seem to follow along with the pattern of reacting negatively. Also, in this video it shows that sometimes following behind someone and reacting the way they do just because and with no real reason will cause you to end up in the same boat as them, featherless. We can choose to react differently and we do not have to interact or react just because someone else is reacting or interacting a certain way. The video showed a clear situation of bullying and ganging up. It also showed that even if you did not do the physical harm you will be affected by interacting on the side of the bullies. )
Thinking back to our M1 Curious and Creative Communication exercise where you initially reacted to this video, compare and contrast your reactions.
In what ways has your ability to understand interpersonal communication changed and grown more complex?
Now, apply a least 5-course concepts or theories to the video. Explain how they relate to the videos contents.
Make sure to define and cite concepts by name.
As relevant, reflect on any additional ways your understanding of interpersonal communication has changed in general, especially as it relates to the video.

Any other sources
Start out with a strong introduction.
Your introduction should tell the reader what your paper will cover related to
your analysis of the video the first time you watched it, and how your
perceptions have changed now at the conclusion of our course. One paragraph
is essential, and remember to cite the video anytime you name it or refer to it
anywhere in the paper.
Following your introduction, you should cover five course concepts or theories to the
video explaining clearly how those concepts are displayed or relate to the video. What
specific nonverbal communication you viewed were related to the concepts, and in what
way? How is the behavior of birds in the video portraying the concepts?
The structure of the paper should include the following.
Title page with the title of your paper and your name, the class title, and the date
The first paragraph on the next page will be your introduction telling the reader
what your paper will cover related to your analysis of the video the first time you
watched compared to how your perceptions have changed now at the conclusion
of our course.
After the introduction discuss the video and introduce the five course concepts
where they apply. You may want to do it chronologically as the video plays, or
you may introduce and define a concept and then describe how it is played out in
the video.
After applying the concepts to the video, provide any recommendations you
might have on how the communication portrayed by the birds could have been
more effective. How could we use this knowledge to become better
communicators?
Provide a summary statement and your conclusion.
Provide a reference list of all the sources you used in your analysis. Place them on the
list in alphabetical order according to the authors’ last names. For the video, use the
publication company name and include the URL.
Write correctly, and proof read your paper carefully for typos.
Make certain you meet the 1,000 word count for the paper.
Assume that your target audience is a class that has not watched the video or read the
textbook; so explain thoroughly and use formal language rather than informal.
