Blackjack is a card game played with a 52-card deck by two people. The object is to draw
cards totaling exactly 21 or as close as possible to 21 without exceeding it. An ace counts
as either 11 or 1; picture cards count as 10; other cards count at face value. The winner is
one of either player or dealer whose hand is closest to 21. Any hand over 21 counts as an
immediate loss.
Assignment Description
This assignment is to create a program which will play Blackjack. The player will request
cards until stopping, and then the dealer will display the dealer’s hand. The dealer will
notify the player of a win or loss. This application will have a console front end and a
C++ class called “BlackJack” as the back end.
Program Requirements
1. The student will create a keyword driven natural language user interface for the
program. The dealer will receive commands and produce responses back to the
player. This assignment will be implemented with a console interface.
2. The program will notify the player of a win or loss, and will display the dealer’s
hand after the player has signified stop play.
3. The dealer will offer the player the option of playing again or quitting.
4. The student will develop an OOD of the solution to the problem to be submitted
separately from the program. The classes required will be a BlackJack, and a
Dealer, CardDeck, and Card class.
5. The Blackjack back end will be implemented as a single class. The source code files
will be compressed together into a .zip file, which will be submitted to CANVAS.

1. The assignment will be uploaded to the instructor using the CANVAS website.
2. The assignment must be submitted as C++ source files only.
