You can use your program’s assessment plans or tools, NC state early learning guide ines, Review any information from families about these children’s language development and development in the other skill area. If you do not already have information from families on these topics, your plan should include questions you intend to ask families. Some guiding information is on pages 21 and 22 of the Policy Statement on Supporting the Development of Children who are Dual Language Learners in Early Childhood Programs What predictions do you have about these children’s abilities? Observe the children, and gather documentation of their progress. If you do not have information from families in the areas you plan to assess, talk with them to get their perspectives. Documentation should include information that families have provided. Describe hat you found out about the two children’s abilities in language development in two languages and one other domain area. . Did your findings match your original ideas about these children’s abilities? How did family information change what you knew? .
