Most States and Territories have regulated the sale of e-cigarettes in retail stores, by restricting their sale to adults and preventing them from being advertised or promoted. Nicotine e-cigarettes should only be available with a prescription. The media is awash with reports of young people using the devices and you are led to believe that social media sites like TikTok feature influencers promoting the products. There definitely appears to be an increase in interest and use of vaping products but national surveillance data has been delayed as covid-19 resulted in school-based alcohol and drug surveys being cancelled. You are new to the health portfolio and the amount of literature being produced about the issue is overwhelming.
