Share One Annotated Bibliography (AB) Source
Order Instructions
Choose one of your sources to share here. Be sure you have read the source carefully. Then share the following:
1. A full, correct MLA citation.
2. A one-paragraph summary of the source in your own words (150-200 words).
A summary should not include your personal opinion and reflection.
If there is an abstract or summary available for one of your sources, do not copy it. (This is plagiarism.)
Do not include quotations in the summary paragraph.
3. Two key quotes that could be used as direct quotes in your paper—these need to be formatted correctly in terms of parenthetical citation.
Note: Use the search databases and e-books available from Miramar College’s library (http:// www.sdmiramar.edu/library/)

This article has an informative purpose and reports on the findings of a published
research study in the Eastern Economic Jorunal. In this research from the University of Miami,
there were several main findings. First, Marte reports that the grades of individuals in high
school are associated with their chances in attending college. In addition, the grades earned in
high school also reflected their academic success in college. Next, their grades in high school
could also serve as an indicator on how much they will earn later in life. Finally, the article
concludes with the point that earning a college degree in general leads to increased earnings over
an individual’s lifetime. In the study, almost 4,700 men and over 5,500 women were surveyed.
Key Quotes:
• “[An] one-point increase in GPA doubles the chance for both genders that a person will
complete college, increasing that probability from 21 percent to 42 percent” (Marte).
• “For a one-point increase in a person’s high school GPA, average annual earnings in
adulthood increased by about 12 percent for men and about 14 percent for women, the
report found” (Marte).
