You are a lawyer practicing general business law in the Chicago suburbs.  Sitting in your office is a client who wants to incorporate a small business doing home repairs, including plumbing, electrical work, carpentry and drywall work, roof repairs, and basement waterproofing.  Your client has said that they are eager to incorporate “so that I can run the business how I want to and not have any risk that people can come after my home, my bank account, and my car.  I love that idea of limited liability!”  Your client’s business plan is to pay themself a salary each week that amounts to the corporation’s net profits for the previous week.  This way, your client explained, angry customers couldn’t get much more than the corporation’s tools, truck, and supplies if they sued.  

When you mention the concept of “piercing the corporate veil” to your client, they have no idea what you are talking about.  In terms your client can understand, please explain what this concept is about and translate it into some useful legal advice for your client.
