From where would one find comfort and hope in the light of illness according to this narrative? Explain in detail each part of the narrative above and analyze the implications.

The Nature of God with Regard to Disease According to the Christian Narrative

The Christian biblical narrative says that God created the world and the first man and woman in it. This means that he has power over human beings to allow or prevent pain and suffering from afflicting them. However, because the first man and woman (Adam and Eve) sinned, the result was the Fall. This is the reality behind our living in a fallen world (Orr, 2015). However, Man can still receive redemption from God if he renounces sin and accepts God as the healer and performer of miracles. With this belief and unwavering spirituality, Man can get restoration to his healthy self through God’s intervention (Orr, 2015).  But the reality of disease is such that some people will still be sick and suffer even up to the point of dying. God however assures us that there is eternal life after death. As such, disease and death are the reality and part and parcel of living in a mortal world.

According to the Christian biblical narrative, one would find comfort in the belief that God has power over disease and can heal in miraculous ways. This is why religion and spirituality help people who are sick find meaning in their suffering. As a matter of fact, religion and spirituality will help a sick person better cope with illness and disease. For this reason, spirituality has been known to contribute to health in many instances (Puchalski, 2001). The Christian narrative clearly says that we are made in the image of God. For this reason, life is sacred and that is why a sick person should be showed love and treated with compassion.
