Johnson introduces you to the tool of literary intercalation. He claims that Mark uses structure to set up stories against/inside each other as a way of offering a matrix of interpretation. He writes, “Mark makes no comment on any of this. He leaves the reader to figure out the juxtapositions” (163). This week, I would like for you to write about this technique as you answer the following question, teasing out the juxtapositions for yourself:
