Mean & standard deviation were used in this study. While I think they were appropriate, I do feel there are certain things that can speed up or slow down the labor process.
The Standard Deviation equals 7.78 hours & the Mean equals 14.63 hours for the experimental group. For the control group the Standard Deviation equals 7.2 hours & the Mean equals 12.79 hours.

As stated above, I think the statistics used were appropriate but I do think there are certain reasons that can impede the labor process.

The differences between the two groups were very minimal. The experimental group had 17 women who chose bottle feeding & 13 women who chose breast feeding & 2 women who chose both. The control group had 15 women choose breast feeding & 18 women who bottle fed, & again, 2 women who chose both.

The majority of the women were married with 78.1% in the experimental group & 86.1% in the control group.

Frequency for the control group is 31 & the percentage  is 86.1%.  Frequency for the experimental group is 25 & the percentage is 78.1%.

The rationale behind this is that in the experimental group there were only 4% black women in the data & in the control group there was 0%.

The information at the end of the study states there is missing data so the numbers & percentages could not constantly total the amount of participants

I believe that the sample for this study was adequately described.

The results were properly presented in data that compared both groups comparatively. Also, the groups were divided into categories & different demographics that provided a better & more adequate representation of the women being studied.

For the depression experimental group the baseline mean was 14 & the post-test mean was 13.35. I do think the expected finding was for the number to decrease after taking the test but I feel the difference between the numbers should have been greater for the best impact made on those who have ESRD.

The group that that had the least amount of dispersion is the experimental group’s post-test scores with a standard deviation of 7.28. All other standard deviation in the test scores were greater than 7.28.

The self-care self-efficacy variable demonstrated the greatest amount of dispersion with the standard deviation of the experimental group baseline was 14.88. The post-test standard deviation of 12.24 is much higher than the variable baseline standard deviation (9.02) & the post-test standard deviation (8.91).

The severity scores did not vary significantly in the severity of the disease. This is important because the researchers suggested there were no differences in the clinical & demographic characteristics of the patients in the groups.

The depression group was least affected by the empowerment program. The baseline mean was 14 & the post-test was 13.36 which provide a very slim difference of 0.64.

I personally don’t think it was important for the researchers to include the total means & standard deviations in the study to endorse effective understanding. However, while the researchers are trying to show a helpful variance after using the empowerment program, the evidence of this is shown in the experimental groups mean & standard deviation scores with the control group as the baseline.
