SYSTOLIC BLOOD PRESSURE IN DIFFERENT AGE GROUPS
The following table contains a random sample of 40 women partitioned into three groups:
Group 1: ages below 20
Group 2: ages 20 through 40
Group 3: ages over 40
The values in the table are the systolic blood pressure levels
The hypothesis test:
H0:u1=u2=u3
H1: at least one of the treatment means is different
Use the Excel Analysis ToolPak to create an Anova – Single Factor table. Is there sufficient evidence to support the claim that women in the different age categories have different mean blood pressure levels? Give reasons for your decision.

HLT 362V Exercise 11 Example Approach
The demographic variables would be income, length of labor, number of hours worked, & weeks until the primiparous mothers return to work.
“Data measured at the interval level provide the best information on the nature of the relationship.” (Burns & Grove, 2015.)
Mean & standard deviation were used in this study. While I think they were appropriate, I do feel there are certain things that can speed up or slow down the labor process.
The Standard Deviation equals 7.78 hours & the Mean equals 14.63 hours for the experimental group. For the control group the Standard Deviation equals 7.2 hours & the Mean equals 12.79 hours.
As stated above, I think the statistics used were appropriate but I do think there are certain reasons that can impede the labor process.
Other statistics could have been time from 1 centimeter dilated until the baby’s body is delivered
This could have provided a greater length of time & made more variables available for greater research data
The distribution scores were extremely alike for the mean length of labor for both the experimental (14.63hrs) & the control group (12.79hrs). The differences between the groups were not significant.
Yes they were extremely similar
The differences between the two groups were very minimal. The experimental group had 17 women who chose bottle feeding & 13 women who chose breast feeding & 2 women who chose both. The control group had 15 women choose breast feeding & 18 women who bottle fed, & again, 2 women who chose both.
The majority of the women were married with 78.1% in the experimental group & 86.1% in the control group.
Frequency for the control group is 31 & the percentage is 86.1%. Frequency for the experimental group is 25 & the percentage is 78.1%.
Yes, the median could be determined.
…. Experimental group: high school: 21.9%, some college: 34.4%, college graduate or higher: 43.8%. Combining the numbers & dividing by three would give you the median of 34.4%
Control group: high school 16.7%, some college 41.7%, & college graduate or higher 36.2%. Combining the numbers & dividing by three would give you the median of 36.2%.
Please see above for the rationale
No it cannot.
The rationale behind this is that in the experimental group there were only 4% black women in the data & in the control group there was 0%.
The information at the end of the study states there is missing data so the numbers & percentages could not constantly total the amount of participants
I believe that the sample for this study was adequately described.
The results were properly presented in data that compared both groups comparatively. Also, the groups were divided into categories & different demographics that provided a better & more adequate representation of the women being studied.

Exercise 16
The answer is C because the methods of teaching the researchers used the data provides quality & quantity of units.
The mean posttest empowerment score for the control group is 97.12 the reference for this value comes from Table 2 on pg 118.

For the depression experimental group the baseline mean was 14 & the post-test mean was 13.35. I do think the expected finding was for the number to decrease after taking the test but I feel the difference between the numbers should have been greater for the best impact made on those who have ESRD.

see below
For the depression control group the baseline mean was 10.40 & the post-test mean was 10.40. As stated above I feel the difference should be greater than 0% in order to show the validity of the test having an impression on those with ESRD.

The group that that had the least amount of dispersion is the experimental group’s post-test scores with a standard deviation of 7.28. All other standard deviation in the test scores were greater than 7.28.

The self-care self-efficacy variable demonstrated the greatest amount of dispersion with the standard deviation of the experimental group baseline was 14.88. The post-test standard deviation of 12.24 is much higher than the variable baseline standard deviation (9.02) & the post-test standard deviation (8.91).

Severity scores (0-10)

The severity scores did not vary significantly in the severity of the disease. This is important because the researchers suggested there were no differences in the clinical & demographic characteristics of the patients in the groups.
The depression group was least affected by the empowerment program. The baseline mean was 14 & the post-test was 13.36 which provide a very slim difference of 0.64.

I personally don’t think it was important for the researchers to include the total means & standard deviations in the study to endorse effective understanding. However, while the researchers are trying to show a helpful variance after using the empowerment program, the evidence of this is shown in the experimental groups mean & standard deviation scores with the control group as the baseline.
