Before completing this discussion question, watch Death is Not Final: A Debate (Links to an external site.) (2014). Provide some examples of how early experiences with death can shape an individual’s later view of death. Provide real life examples. Review the article Death, American Style: A Cultural History of Dying in America (Links to an external site.) (Golbert, 2015) and provide a short analysis/opinion of its content. Consider and discuss whether you think the U. S. is a death-denying or death-accepting culture. Discuss media influence and other factors that might support your perspective or that might have contributed to our views on death.
Guided Response: Respond to at least two of your peers. Use a minimum of one scholarly source found at the University of Arizona Global Campus
Library or Google Scholar, to critically examine the procedure that you have selected and its results. Offer a substantial response to at least two other posts written by members of the class. Be sure that you cite scientific evidence to support your views. A minimum of 200 words should be used for each response to other posts. Your response must be formatted according to APA style as outlined by the Writing Center. Be certain to continue monitoring the discussion board until 5 p.m. (Pacific Time) on Day 7 of the week.
Discuss your understanding with the conclusions regarding how their early experiences shaped their view of death as provided in your classmates’ initial posts. For each response, provide an example from your classmate post, and how it shaped their view of death later in life. Support your response with at least one reference from the text or this week’s required articles. You must also comment specifically on one aspect of your classmate’s post with which you can relate or understand. Provide a brief explanation as to why you agree and support your opinion with research drawn from the required readings this week. What personal and/or professional insights might you gain from your classmates’ posts that could alter your views? In addition to responding to at least two other students’ posts, it is recommended that you reply to at least one classmate who responded to your original post by either respectfully support your conclusions or listing how you might implement the alternatives your classmate suggested.
