The DNP-Prepared Nurse and the Global Burden of Disease
Purpose
The purpose of this discussion is to demonstrate your understanding of the characteristics of the DNP-prepared nurse and the skills inherent to your future role as a DNP-prepared nurse. The Global Burden of Disease drives the work of the DNP-prepared nurse as the consummate consumer of research. You will work to find solutions through iterative searching of evidence to address pressing issues.
Instructions
Share your views on the unique characteristics of the DNP-prepared nurse.
The Global Burden of Disease and National Practice Problems are the focus of your ongoing work as a DNP-prepared nurse. The National Practice Problems are multifaceted and complex in nature. As you consider one of these complex practice problems, explain which of them would you consider examining and why. Remember to keep a limited scope of a problem you would consider working on with the interprofessional team.
Provide key points on why recently published research studies supply the solutions to the practice problem you are considering.

Week 3 Discussion
Searching the Library for Quantitative Research
Purpose
The purpose of this discussion is for you to demonstrate an understanding and ability to search the library for quantitative research related to the practice problem. Use the focus of the Global Burden of Disease and National Practice Problems to guide your search for a quantitative article. From what you have learned from the Explore section choose a quantitative research article about one of the National Practice Problems. These eight National Practice Problems include: COPD, mental illness, addiction, heart disease, diabetes, cancer, obesity, and safety. You will successfully demonstrate your library search skills to identify evidence.
Instructions
Follow these guidelines when completing the assignment. Contact your course faculty if you have any questions.
Conduct a search of the library to find one quantitative research article related to one of the National Practice Problems. You will use the quantitative article you have selected for your paper. The DNP-prepared nurse uses the most recent (within 5 years) evidence available.
Present the written reference and the permalink to the article you chose.
Attach your completed Johns Hopkins Appraisal Tool to your response.
Describe what you found most interesting or concerning in the study you selected.

Week 4 Discussion
Quantitative Article Critique
Purpose
The purpose of this discussion is for you to search for quantitative evidence that contributes to practice change and improvement of a National Practice Problem. You will be proficient in research critique when using the Johns Hopkins Appraisal Tool. You will gain experience in judging quantitative research for applicability to the practice problem. The critique of research focuses on potential solutions and interventions to improve outcomes.
Instructions
Conduct a search of the Chamberlain library to find an additional quantitative research article on the National Practice Problem you selected in Week 3. Be sure to use the most recent evidence available (within the past 5 years).
Present the written reference and permalink to the article you chose.
Summarize the article and include key findings including aim, method, analysis, and results within the chosen article.
Appraise the findings of the selected quantitative article and share how the outcomes may contribute to a solution to the practice problem.
Attach your completed Johns Hopkins Appraisal Tool to your response.
