- Week 1 – The following are my personal and professional communication goals:Personal: I would like to know how to communicate effectively when speaking to family/friends. Sometimes I have a tendency to be too formal and not turning off my corporate hat and then I find myself not communicating professionally when the time is needed. My father is retiring the end of July and I would like to speak at his ceremony but I’m terrified. I’ve tried to writing a speech with no success. Professional: I was recently promoted (October 2021) to a supervisor and I have to disseminate information via email and speak to my direct reports often. I’ve been told from one of my employees that my verbal directions are inconsistent. Its like I have a thousand thoughts on my mind and I jump from topic to topic. To become a better public speaker.
