Identifying professional organizations for school counselors that match the needs and professional goals of the individual counselor can be complex

I’m working on a psychology multi-part question and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.

Identifying professional organizations for school counselors that match the needs and professional goals of the individual counselor can be complex. Although many professional organizations have student options, joining these organizations can be costly due to annual fees and liability insurance costs. However, joining such organizations can have benefits for school counselors by providing information about current trends and research in the field of school counseling. Professional organizations also offer information about the job market and available openings.

In preparation for your profession in school counseling, write about reviewing requirements to become a school counselor, professional organizations available, and the current job market for school counselors in your area.

Include the following in your review:

• Briefly describe the preparation standards and credentials required to be licensed as a school counselor in NORTH CAROLINA
• Summarize legislation or government policies in your area that will affect your work as a school counselor.
• Identify at least three professional organizations for school counselors you could join now or in the future, including the benefits they offer, the costs for annual fees, and liability insurance.
• Based on the information from the professional organization, explain the job requirements, job duties, and annual salary of school counselors.
• Describe your plan for personal growth, based on previous self-assessment data, and research about professional organizations, preparation standards, credentials, legislation, government policies, and labor markets.
