Cameron, I think most of us would agree with you, “A good leader is always focused on their own personal development.” Supposedly, John Maxwell told this story during a Free Church Leader Teleconference (Maxwell, n.d.):

“It’s said that one day, Frederick the Great of Prussia was walking on the outskirts of Berlin when he encountered a very old man walking ramrod-straight in the opposite direction.
“Who are you?” Frederick asked his subject.
“I am a king,” replied the old man.
“A king!” laughed Frederick. “Over what kingdom do you reign?”
“Over myself,” was the proud old man’s reply.”

2.Nicely put, Craig, “The most important skill for any leader to have is innovation. Innovation is the never-ending challenge of coming up with something new, game-changing, and flat-out just better.” Innovation must be part of an organization’s culture. Innovation must be encouraged and rewarded consistently for the organization to out-pace the competition and anticipate customer expections. Apple and Microsoft come to my mind as good examples.
