• Who are your customers? Where do they live, what do they look like (demographically) and how do they live (psychographics and lifestyle)?
• Who are your competitiors? Who sells and provides similar products? What are these competitor’s strengths and weaknesses?
• Why do customers want what you are selling? What is your solution? What is the market’s perspective on your products?
• What would make customers prefer to buy products from your organization? What is your unique selling proposition? Is it quality? Customer service? Reliability?
• Why might customers prefer to buy from your competitors? How have our competitors positioned themselves and their products in the market–as providing better service? Better prices? More options?
• What incentives or added values do you offer that will be attractive to your customers? In addition to your unique selling proposition, what do you need to include in the offer? What is the competition offering?

Note that all of these questions require you to examine the area in which you have placed your team. Look for competing sport franchises and other entertainment options that compete for the same discretionary dollars you do from customers. Unless you research the city and surrounding area thoroughly, you won’t be able to develop a solid sales plan (via the answers to the above questions).
