Getting Started
This activity will focus on “selecting” a quantitative measure (or measures) to be used in assessing the client and measuring outcome for your practice evaluation.

Above is the table that was used in an earlier Workshop which focused on determining practice (client) goals. You needed to create something similar for the earlier Assignment. For this assignment you may use the same table that you created for the earlier Assignment. All you need to do is look at the “Client Goals” column and decide how you plan to measure each one. For example, there are three client goals above that will need to be measured for my practice evaluation that include reducing physical abuse, eliminating alcohol use, and eliminating aggression.
Sometimes the best way to find suitable measurements for variables is to search the literature to see how other evaluators measured these same client goals. I find that the best way to display the information for this assignment is to use another table. Look at the table below to see how I displayed this information for the three client goals above:
Client Goals | Plan to Measure the Goal |
Reduce physical abuse |
Have the girlfriend complete the Physical Abuse Questionnaire (PAQ) |
Eliminate alcohol use |
Have the client complete the Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT) |
Eliminate aggression toward ex-girlfriend |
Ask the client’s girlfriend if the client is displaying fewer acts of aggression toward her
