The theme is up to you, but you must present a strong argument in your paper as to how it is important and relevant to a broader understanding of English history before 1688.

You will pick two chapters within the book we are reading together as a class (The Romance of
Arthur).  At least one of these chapters must be outside of the assigned reading for the term.  
Pick a theme that relates to the two chapters you have read and use it to write an analytical
paper.  For example, you might choose two chapters to dive further into understanding the role
of women in Arthurian legend and what it might tell us about their role in early England, or you
might choose honor and what it tells us about England. The theme is up to you, but you must
present a strong argument in your paper as to how it is important and relevant to a broader
understanding of English history before 1688.
