The initiative’s primary goal is to enhance healthcare and eliminate unnecessary testing. The health initiative aims to ensure that the advanced practice nurse produces the best health outcomes at the lowest costs (Kleinpell et al., 2020).

Nurses are progressively targeting high-value healthcare at local, state and federal levels. The initiative has been evidenced by the ongoing national collaboration of advanced practice nurses to showcase their role in promoting high-value health care. Ongoing support and coaching by APRNs experienced in implementing high-value health care initiatives is utilized to promote the work of a national collaborative (Kleinpell et al., 2020).

Advanced practice nurses would implement various tactics to improve the political engagement of their coworkers. One of these strategies is to develop a cadre of politically active nurses who can compete in the scarce resources. APRNs can select leaders who act as political activists to safeguard the nursing practice from unhealthy practices that may be channeled through politics and changes in public policy (Squires & Dorsen, 2018).

Advanced practice nurses can also improve the political engagement of their coworkers by creating awareness among them on the policies affecting the nursing practice and the need to be involved. They can encourage them to assume leadership positions involved in the legislation that impacts the industry (Squires & Dorsen, 2018). They can also urge them to join the different professional nursing organizations that have long lobbied against issues affecting them and providing quality healthcare.
