Having integrity in ministerial leadership involves working with others in ways that honor them and God. Although the dynamics of team ministry leadership can be challenging, having integrity in all aspects of ministerial interactions is crucial.
For this assignment, you will need to conduct two interviews with the leaders identified in Topic 2, as approved by your instructor, which are the following:
- A senior pastoral leader is someone who leads other leaders. These leaders on the ministry team do not have to be full-time, paid staff members, but they should clearly be leaders with others under their supervision in an area of ministry under the supervision of the senior pastoral leader. Examples include, but are not limited to, the following: Senior pastor, lead program ministry director, or lead program coordinator. If you would like to interview someone who does not fall into one of these categories, communicate with your instructor for guidance and approval.
- A support-level leader is someone who serves under the supervision of a senior leader. This support-level leader does not have to be a full-time, paid staff member, but they should clearly be a leader in an area of ministry under the supervision of a senior leader. Examples include, but are not limited to, the following: Bible study leader, Sunday school teacher, or media support. If you would like to interview someone who does not fall into one of these categories, communicate with your instructor for guidance and approval.
Part One: Interview
For each interview, select three to five questions from the question bank, “Senior and Support-Level Interview Questions” document. With approval your instructor, additional questions about integrity in ministerial leadership teams in the local church can be used for the interview.
Ideally, the questions should be sent to the interviewee two days prior to the interview so that they can give some thought to their responses in advance of the interview.
Conduct the interview and record the interviewee’s responses and any additional observations you may have.
Part Two: Summary
Using the Turabian template found in the Student Success Center, write a summary of your interviews with the senior pastoral leader and support-level leader, with the following:
Introduction
In 150-200 words, summarize who the interviewees are, including their roles and responsibilities at the church.
Provide a brief introduction where you supply the basic details of your paper and the purpose statement of the paper.
- Supply a clear thesis statement, identifying the overall direction and assertion supported within your research, evaluation and analysis, and final recommendation.
- Offer a clear, concise summary of the sections of your paper.
Summary of Responses
In 200-250 words, thoughtfully summarize the responses to the questions asked in each of the interviews. This should be a synthesis of the interview. This should not be a transcript of the interview questions and responses.
Future Application
In 500-750 words, evaluate how the responses from the interviews can be applied to your future ministry, with specific details related to integrity in ministry.
Conclusion
In 75-100 words, do the following:
- Briefly restate the thesis and the ways the paper goes about supporting the thesis.
- Briefly summarize the key points within the summary of responses and future application sections of the paper. The conclusion should not introduce new ideas into the paper.
Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the Turabian Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.
